Cocktails with Dumas
Simple serves for a rum aged 14 years in American oak whiskey barrels. These classic recipes are a starting point; adjust sweetness to your taste. Each recipe makes one cocktail.
Rum Old Fashioned
A spirit-forward serve that pairs Dumas with bitters and a touch of sugar.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Dumas Rum
- 1 tsp simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water)
- 2 dashes aromatic bitters
- Orange peel
- Ice
Method
- Add the rum, syrup, and bitters to a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir until chilled, then strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
- Express the orange peel over the drink and add it as a garnish.
Start with the smaller amount of syrup and add a little more if you prefer a sweeter serve.
Aged Rum Daiquiri
Fresh lime and a little sweetness offer a different way to explore aged rum.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Dumas Rum
- 3/4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/2 oz simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water)
- Ice
Method
- Add the rum, lime juice, and syrup to a shaker with ice.
- Shake until well chilled.
- Strain into a chilled coupe. Adjust the syrup slightly to suit the tartness of your limes.
